Prescription glasses in Imperia

Frames chosen with you, lenses centred on your face, written guarantees on collection.

You wear your glasses on your face all day, at work, in the car, at dinner with friends. That’s why they must help you see well and feel like yourself.

At Poliottica, in Imperia since 1972, your glasses are made in the shop, step by step. We start with the eye test, choose frame and lenses together, take the measurements on your face and assemble them in our workshop.

The frame

The frame that’s right for you

Choosing a frame with the optician at the Poliottica shop in Imperia

The right frame comes from two things, the shape of your face and the colours that suit you best. These are style guidelines, not strict rules. Trying it on in front of the mirror is still what matters most.

  • OvalGoes with almost any frame.
  • RoundAngular or rectangular frames.
  • SquareRound or oval frames.
  • OblongWide, more horizontal frames.
  • TriangularStrong top rim or cat-eye.
  • Heart-shapedLight frames, wider at the bottom.

For colours we use colour analysis, which looks at skin, eyes and hair. With the Warm-Cold Test we find out whether your undertone is warm or cool and which shades flatter you.

Centring

Lenses centred on your face

Two pairs of glasses with the same frame and the same lenses can make you see differently. The difference lies in the centring, that is, the position of the lenses in front of your eyes.

To measure it we use Hoya’s visuReal Master AI, a video centring system with artificial intelligence. You stand in front of what looks like an ordinary mirror, with your chosen frame already on your face, and look at a point of light. Six cameras take the images and the software recognises the position of your eyes by itself.

In front of the mirror you hold your head naturally, with nothing clipped to the frame. The system measures the distance of each eye from the centre of the nose, the height of the eyes in the frame, the tilt and wrap of the glasses and their distance from the eyes. These are the data used to personalise the lenses, and Hoya states that they are accurate and repeatable. Before confirming them, the optician checks the result on screen.

Then we edge and fit the lenses in our in-house workshop.

At the computer

Glasses for computer use

If you spend many hours in front of a screen, tell us during the eye test. Office distances are different from those on the road or on the sofa, and sometimes a pair of glasses dedicated to your computer hours is worthwhile.

When we take the measurements we also ask you about your workstation, the distance from the screen and the lighting in the room, so the lenses work at the right distance.

Frequently asked questions

Your most common questions

How do you choose glasses to suit your face?

You start from the shape of your face and the colours that suit you best, then you try them on. In the shop we choose together, with the frame on your face in front of the mirror.

How often should you change your glasses?

There’s no fixed deadline. Poliottica’s Service Card recommends eye tests every six or twelve months, and the test tells us whether your lenses are still right for you. It’s worth changing them sooner if your sight has changed or if lenses and frame are damaged.

How much do prescription glasses cost?

It depends on the frame and above all on the lenses you need. After the eye test we show you the solutions that suit you, each with its price, and you choose at your own pace.

Where can I get prescription glasses in Imperia?

At Poliottica, Via Silvio Bonfante, 8, 18100 Imperia IM. Eye test, choice, centring and lens fitting are all done here, in our in-house workshop.
